Western Journalists on the Terrorist Attacks
An Introductory Note: This is not a survey of all perspectives on the terrorist attacks. In fact, it is a very selective collection of links. It consists entirely of links to articles by Western journalists in which they examine some of the possible causes of terrorism. Nearly all of these articles have appeared only in the independent (or, alternative) media rather than in the mainstream media. In fact, it is difficult to find these voices without doing a lot of searching. For this reason, one of my aims is simply to provide a resource about progressive and/or libertarian perspectives. My second aim is to show that it is not only Muslims who believe it is important to consider possible causes of terrorism, but that thoughtful Americans and other Westerners may feel the same way. It is for this reason that I have provided links only to Western journalists. I do not necessarily agree with the views of all of the columnists to whom I have linked; rather, I am providing these links in the hopes that you may, God willing, open your mind to consider new perspectives on this very difficult issue.
