Surah al-Qadr ayah 5
Salamun hiya hatta matla'a al-fajr
There is peace until the appearance of dawn
The following is an excerpt of commentary on this ayah:
Abu Dawud Tayalisi reported the Prophet as saying, "The Night of Decree is either the twenty-seventh or twenty-ninth. During this night the angels throng the earth and they are more in number than the pebbles on it." Abdur-Rahman ibn Abu Ya'la said that it is the Night of Security and no heresy takes place in this night. Ibn Zaid and Qatadah said that no evil takes place on this night. Ahmad ibn Hanbal reported that the Prophet said, "The Night of Decree is one of the last ten nights of Ramadan and whoever spends this night in worship with faith and in hope for reward shall be forgiven all his past sins." The Prophet said, "This night is odd-numbered, the twenty-first, twenty-third, twenty-fifth, twenty-seventh, or twenty-ninth of the month." He said, "This night is very bright as if it is a moonlit night. It is very pleasant, neither too hot or too cold. No stars are shot in this night. One of its signs is that the sun shines the following morning not with piercing rays, but it appears like the bright full moon."
