Afghan Orphans
Perhaps you have heard about a group of Afghan orphans who are being brought to the United States. There is some confusion about exactly what orphans are coming when (see Is the Afghan Orphans Story a Hoax?) but one thing is clear: a tremendous number of children in Afghanistan have been orphaned. Undoubtedly, some of these children will be brought to America, if they have not been already. Getting qualified to be a foster parent is worth your while even if this particular story is not true. First, it is our duty as Muslims to do what we can to help Muslim orphans find Muslim families. Second, taking care of orphans is a deed that will be greatly rewarded by Allah SWT.
A Muslim organization called the Niswa Association has set itself up as the go-to group to help Muslim families who wish to become foster parents. Read the Niswa Association Appeal concerning the potential Afghan orphans.
