the taxman cometh

Tax time is never fun, but it's a lot better being a regular employee than self-employed. I was a contractor for two months in 2004, which means that last year I had to figure out all kinds of complicated tax forms and pay an arm and a leg.

This year, it's much easier - and thanks to withholding, the amount I have to pay is very small, al-hamdulillah

let's Google bomb again, like we did last winter

Heh. I thought this was funny. Logan Ferree took a look at how Congress stacks up (Word document) on libertarian positions.

The one actual libertarian, Ron Paul, got a perfect score. However, none of the (Republican) members of his Liberty Caucus vote with him more than 60% of the time and there are only two that vote with him more than half the time.

But what's really funny is that 34 Democrats (and one Independent Socialist) vote with Paul more often than do any members of the Liberty Caucus. These 34 are largely among the most progressive members of the House - for instance, Kucinich voted with Paul 70% of the time. Except for two members of the Liberty Caucus at 60%, every Congressperson who votes with Paul more than half the time is a Democrat (or Independent Socialist).

Maybe it will occur to Paul one of these days that he's in the wrong party - but I'm not holding out a lot of hope.

Well, I downloaded the entire Quran in mp3 and it came to about 136 MB. Not bad at all, and plenty of room left on the iPod for other things.
