A Department of Peace - Transformation Begins with Us

Kucinich posted the following article to his website on August 22, 2005:

Dennis has prepared a video message on the Bill to create a cabinet-level Department of Peace which he will introduce in September. He talks about compassion, personal responsibility and explains the mission of a Department of Peace. Watch the video or download MP3 audio. The Bill will be re-introduced on September 14.

In conjunction with the Bill's introduction, Dennis will speak - along with Walter Cronkite - at the national conference of the Peace Alliance, one of the groups working to build support for the Bill. The conference will be an intensive workshop to teach groups from congressional districts all over America effective techniques for building local advocacy groups and guiding legislation to passage, with a special focus on Dennis's Department of Peace Bill. The Bill will be re-introduced with over fifty cosponsors. Conference participants will learn to enlist more.

The conference will be held Sept. 10-12 in Washington D.C. Other participants will include Patch Adams, Rep. John Conyers, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Azim Khamisa, Ambassador John McDonald, Coleen Rowley, Jonathan Schell, Marianne Williamson, and many others.
