Kucinich on Iraq (Kucinich for Congress)
From the Kucinich for Congress issues page on Iraq:
A Leader in Sensible International Policies
Congressman Kucinich emerged as the leader in the United States House of Representatives in challenging the Administration's march toward war against Iraq. Early in 2002, as war preparations were being made, Kucinich pointed out there was no basis for war against Iraq. Everything he said early on proved to be true: Iraq had nothing to do with 911, with Al Queda's role in 911, with the anthrax attack on our nation; Iraq had neither the intention nor the capability to attack America. Three was no proof there were any weapons of mass destruction which Iraq had ready to use against the United States.
One hundred and twenty five Democrats in the House followed Kucinich's leadership and voted against going to war. Today Kucinich's foresight is recognized nationally.
He has also proposed a peace plan for Iraq which would end the war and bring our troops home.
Kucinich's involvement in international issues was estabished during the Balkan crisis and the United States' attack on Serbia. Kucinich joined with Republican Congressman Curt Weldon of Pennsylvania in a peace delegation to Vienna, met with members of the Russian Duma and helped to craft an agreement which leaders of the G-8 nations modeled, bringing an end to that conflict.
