Kucinich for President Wind-down News
Here's an update on what we've been up to in our campaign wind-down activities.
Video of Kucinich convention speech now online
It took longer for us to acquire it than we had hoped, but video of Dennis's convention speech is finally available online. Links are posted on the home page of www.kucinich.us
Retrospective campaign video almost finished!
The sights, sounds and spirit of this historic Presidential campaign will soon be available on VHS and DVD, in a dazzling new 30-minute video production. Campaign videographer Chad Ely is putting the finishing touches on his work, which we expect to be available next week. Watch for the trailer on www.kucinich.us in the next few days.
Share your favorite campaign story online
Several times during the campaign we've given you a chance to speak out on kucinich.us to tell us things like why you supported Dennis and ways NAFTA affected you. Now, as we wind down the campaign, we're asking you to share your favorite campaign story or most significant moment - something you learned, one event that stands out in your mind, something that makes you laugh or that moved you. Visit www.kucinich.us/memory to share your story, and read what others have written.
Dennis to help Ani DiFranco register voters - receptions to be announced
On September 10th at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA, Kucinich supporter Ani DiFranco will kick off her VOTE DAMMIT! tour, co-sponsored by Progressive Democrats of America - www.pdamerica.org - with the help of Dennis Kucinich. Dennis is participating because one of Ani's goals with this tour is to register young people to get out and vote in November's critical election. She is inviting Dennis and other special guests - including you! - to be with her. Dennis plans to join
Ani at other stops on her tour as well, where we'll hold fundraising receptions - check www.righteousbabe.com/ani/votedammit.asp for details, and watch the home page at www.kucinich.us .
Department of Peace update
Minnesota, Colorado, Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, Iowa, and Texas all passed resolutions at their conventions in support of a Department of Peace. As we congratulate these states, many supporters are asking, “What's next?”
Call on your Congressperson and representatives at all levels of government to support the House resolution to create a Department of Peace, HR 1673, introduced by Dennis Kucinich.
September 12th has been designated Department of Peace Day. Dennis will speak via video at an event in New York City on this date. For more details, visit www.dopcampaign.org .
Reminder: September 21st is the International Day of Peace. Watch for, or help to plan, events in your community.
Online listings of progressive Democratic candidates in your state
A new section of our Web site is dedicated to our supporters who have chosen to run for office as progressive candidates, inspired by the voice, vision, courage and platform of Dennis John Kucinich. Visit www.kucinich.us/candidates and search for candidates you can help in your state, or browse nationally.
We are still adding candidates to the list, as we become aware of more Kucinich supporters seeking office on a progressive Democratic platform. Candidates wishing to be listed should send a request to candidates@kucinich.us .
Autographed Kucinich memorabilia now up for auction on eBay
The regular T-shirts are all gone, but now you can buy one autographed by Dennis himself, or one with Danny Glover, or Willie Nelson. We're pulling out the really unique items now and auctioning them off to help pay down our campaign debt. As we place items on eBay, we're putting them up on a page in our online store too, at www.kucinich.us/store.php. Have you always wanted one of those rare trading cards showing Dennis’s high school football team in 1960, with Number 26 himself? Here's your chance to get an autographed one. Continue to watch online over the next few weeks for all the other items we've got in store.
Convention photo prints to go on sale soon
Professional photographer Ram Gibson accompanied Dennis during much of his time in Boston for the convention, and we are selecting a number of Ram’s best images to offer high-quality professionally-produced prints for sale, suitable for framing. You'll see a special section in the online store at www.kucinich.us/store.php offering these prints early next week. If you were in Boston, check to see if you’re in any of these shots!
Did you have your picture taken with Dennis in Boston? Prints of individual poses from July 29 will be available for purchase next week as well.
Campaign survey coming next week
Next week you will receive a campaign survey in your email, asking for your feedback on a number of points pertaining to your interactions with the campaign. In an effort to truly listen to and learn from our supporters, campaign management wants to know the hows, whats and whys of your involvement with and perceptions of the campaign on local, state and national levels. We're building the forms and database now, and you'll see the survey in a few days.
Our debt isn't huge, but it needs to be paid
Due in large part to the tireless efforts of volunteer supporters around the country which allowed us to operate with a minimum of paid staff (and paid minimally! - but proud to serve), the debt of Kucinich for President, Inc. is not large at all for a presidential campaign. However, it is our responsibility now during this post-campaign wind-down period to pay it all off. As you can see, we are continuing to offer items for sale and at auction to help, but we need your generous contribution to finish this endeavor with integrity. Won't you please visit our contribution page now at https://www.kucinich.us/contribute.php, and give what you can?
From Dennis, and all the staff, our heartfelt thanks to each of you for all that you do.
-- Dennis, Dot, Amy, Cheryl, Chad, Phil, Marsha, Annette, Ele, Claudia, Joan and Turo
