Congressman Dennis Kucinich is being treated at a Cleveland area hospital for gastroenteritis. The ailment was apparently brought on by food poisoning.

The congressman is expected to be released from the hospital within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Kucinich, a Democratic candidate for President, was en route to a major campaign appearance in Selma, Alabama Sunday when he was taken ill. He returned to the Cleveland area on the advice of his physician, and underwent routine tests today.

Gastroenteritis is commonly referred to as "the stomach flu."
