Caucus Craze

From a report in the Santa Fe New Mexican

Dennis Kucinich, Joe Lieberman, Fern Penna: Virtually nobody is predicting victory for these candidates.

Though Lieberman does have a staff in Albuquerque, there has been no television advertising, no Lieberman appearance in the state since the September debate (though he has scheduled a stop in Albuquerque on Monday) and basically not much visibility.

As for Penna -- a New York investment consultant on the board of a company developing a flying car -- the most common thing said about him is, "Who?"

Kucinich, however, is a different story. The Ohio Congressman has a passionate following here. He's been to the state several times, attracting hundreds to a rally at the Capitol last summer. He has even run some television ads here.

"Kucinich has a good organization here," Sanderoff said. "He'll do well in Santa Fe, Taos and in the UNM area." But while Sanderoff predicts Kucinich will do better in New Mexico than his 1 percent and 2 percent finishes Iowa and New Hampshire, he doubts he'll pull an upset here on Tuesday.
