Inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Democratic Presidential Candidate Dennis J. Kucinich, Iowan Jonathan Meier Returns Home to Ames to Caucus for Peace, Jobs, and Health Care

Kucinich to Introduce Singer Ani Difranco at her January 18, Des Moines Concert

AMES, IOWA-Iowan Jonathan Meier is returning to his Ames home from his cross-country Steps for Peace walk to caucus on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH). He will caucus at 6:00 p.m. on Iowa State University's campus at the Wallace-Wilcom Commons in Ames Precinct 3-3 for peace, jobs, and health care. First hearing Kucinich speak at his alma mater Iowa State early last year, Meier was so inspired by Kucinich's message that he decided to embark last October on a Steps for Peace walk across the United States which began in Maine and will end in California.

Making Steps for Peace into New Mexico this week, Meier completed over two-thirds of his cross-country journey, which will end on February 29 in San Francisco. Meier is flying to Iowa to caucus and then flying back to Santa Fe resume his walk.

Ten Steps for Peace walkers who have joined Jonathan on his journey remained behind in Iowa last month in order to help with voter turnout for the caucuses. They will be attending Ani DiFranco's Des Moines concert to be held on Sunday, January 18 at 8:00 p.m. CT. Kucinich will be present to introduce DiFranco. The concert will be held at Hoyt Sherman Place, 1501 Woodland Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa.
