(Farmington-AP) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich found time Saturday for a quick campaign stop in New Mexico.

The Ohio congressman appeared in Farmington to accept the endorsement of a Navajo coalition made up of 24 grass-roots organizations.

About 200 people turned out to hear Kucinich speak about environmental and social concerns related to years of uranium mining on Indian land.

Kucinich also spoke about the need for the United States to acknowledge its treaties with sovereign Indian governments and strengthen government-to-government relations.

Kucinich also reiterated his stance on the war in Iraq, saying that he doesn’t support it and would bring home U.S. troops if he were president.

Kucinich has visited New Mexico seven times in the last year.

He’s now heading to Iowa to prepare for the upcoming caucus.
