Willie Nelson and Tim Reynolds to Headline Austin Texas Fundraising Concert, January 3, 2004
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
December 2, 2003
What: An evening of acoustic music with Willie Nelson and Friends. Guitarist Tim Reynolds, also a Kucinich endorser, will perform along with other special guests.
When: Saturday, January 3, 2004, 7:00 p.m. Central Time

Where: Austin Music Hall, 208 Nueces, Austin, Texas

Noted endorsers of Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s run for the White House will host a concert at one of America’s classic live music venues, the Austin Music Hall. on January 3, 2004. Living legend Willie Nelson and The Dave Matthews Band’s outspoken guitar player Tim Reynolds will host the event that will also feature numerous special guests from the worlds of music, film, and politics.

Willie Nelson’s support of Dennis Kucinich’s campaign has been exceptional. In addition to committing to concerts of this type, Willie has done several radio ads in the early caucus state, Iowa, for the congressman. Says Nelson “I am endorsing Dennis Kucinich for President because he stands up for heartland Americans who are too often overlooked and unheard. He has done that his whole political career. Big corporations are well represented in Washington, but Dennis Kucinich is a rare Congressman of conscience and bravery that fights for the underrepresented much like the late Senator Paul Wellstone. Dennis champions individual privacy, safe food laws and family farmers. A Kucinich Administration will put the interests of America's family farmers, consumers and environment above the greed of industrial agribusiness. I normally do not get too heavily involved in politics, but this is more about getting involved with America than with politics. I encourage people to learn more about Dennis Kucinich at http://www.kucinich.us and I will be doing all I can to raise his profile with voters.”

Reynolds’ has been an especially visible supporter – he wore his Kucinich For President T-shirt on The Dave Matthews Band’s recent appearance on "Saturday Night Live." Of Kucinich Reynolds says, "I believe Dennis Kucinich is the only clear voice for peace and compassion in an otherwise hopeless, fake, made for TV political arena. He is truly the embodiment of what a caring public servant can be, a man of principal above politics."

The War Around Us
by Wolfgang P. May
Advisory Team Leader
Republic of Vietnam

About war much has been written.
More must yet be said
by those who saw them die,
so that the dead may rest,
and sight be gained,
to see war
for what it was and is:

War is not fighting,
though fighting's what we see,
nor is it death,
for death is but it's end.
It is the rancor of disunited hearts,
the death of love,
the end of hope.

The war around us echoes in our hearts,
and grants it life.
Once, mortals dared to tame
this ancient beast,
and yet it thrives.
Each age must fight this force again,
or pay it's price!
