Kucinich tells Native Times his positions
Respect for sovereignty high on his agenda

ALBUQUERQUE NM
Louis Gray 11/17/2003

U.S. Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich brought his campaign to the 60th Annual convenetion of the National Congress of the American Indian in Albuquerque Monday November 17, at the convention center. Speaking outside to delegates the decidedly liberal congressman repeated his message for getting the United States out of Iraq and announced his respect for tribal sovereignty.

Kucinich told the Native American Times the two are connected. He said respect for all sovereign nations including tribal governments will be a part of his administration.

"Native Americans are responding to my call for respect for sovereignty and reconciling with the U.S. Government," Kucinich said.

Asked why Native Americans should vote for him, Kucinich said "because my positions are connected to the earth, sky and waters just as they are for Native Americans and we need to renew that connection because when you break that connection you break that link with God."

Later on today Gen. Wesley Clark will be interviewed by the Native American Times.

Gov. Howard Dean will attend the convention later on in the week.
