Events raise $60,000 for Kucinich campaign
He came, he spoke, he collected $60,000.

Democratic presidential candidate Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, spent the day Sunday in Santa Cruz, appearing at two campaign fund-raising events at the Rio Theatre and at a student forum at UCSC.

The first Rio event sold out, while the later one was near capacity, said Paddy Easton Graves, a local Kucinich supporter and event organizer.

Kucinich later attended a private gathering at the Crepe Place on Soquel Avenue with supporters who gave $250 or more, which numbered more than 80.

"It was a fantastic success for Santa Cruz," said Easton Graves. "This is where the fire starts."
