Kucinich has right priorities

An opinion column published in the Statesman Journal:

Recently I visited the Fort Stevens Historic Military Site near Astoria. This military reservation guarded the mouth of the Columbia River from the Civil War until World War II. It was quite an impressive historical display of our military defense. Yes, I would fight to defend our country; I support military defense spending.

My grave concern is military offense spending. Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, an Ohio representative, wants the United States to return to being the most admired nation, not the most hated one. His goal is to move our country from war to peace and spend our tax dollars on a stronger America.

He supports health-care reform, balancing the rights of corporations and individuals, restoring our country’s manufacturing jobs and the preservation of our natural resources.

It’s been a long time since I’ve proudly waved the American flag. I could do it again with Dennis Kucinich as our president.
