Someone's having a birthday: Could it be the busiest person on Capitol Hill? Here's your update, including NEW ENDORSEMENTS and new activism...

DENNIS TURNS 57

On October 8, Dennis John Kucinich becomes 57 years young. Supporters are celebrating around the country. In New Mexico, the party will be held Sunday, 3 days early, at the NEA building in Santa Fe, bringing together Democrats, Greens, food, music, an Aztec fire ceremony and a huge cake -- leading to a bus tour of the state. Can your state top that?

One way individuals can celebrate: Send our campaign a $57 birthday present online https://www.kucinich.us/contribute.php or by toll-free phone: (866) 413-3664.

KUCITIZENS STORM IOWA

More than 100 Kucinich supporters from Illinois are descending on the Quad Cities in Iowa this weekend to knock on thousands of doors for Dennis in Davenport and Muscatine. Meanwhile, Kucitizens from Minnesota will spread the word in Waterloo and Cedar Falls. To join this or future mobilizations, call Kathleen Lane at 319-294-1342.

KUCINICH LEADS ON CAPITOL HILL

Opposing $87 Billion: Kucinich is spearheading efforts to block the Bush Administration’s request for another $87 billion for war. Yesterday, he took to the House floor to criticize Bush’s request as war profiteering, pointing out that the Administration wants Congress to cut veterans’ benefits by $25 billion: "While we are being told to vote for $87 billion to support the troops, we find that those who will benefit from this money are the army of lobbyists who have ties to this Administration.”

Affirming Right to Choose: Yesterday, Kucinich criticized the "Partial Birth Abortion" ban and affirmed his support for the Constitutional right to reproductive choice: "The bill before the House today is just as unconstitutional as was the previous legislation. I believe that equal protection under the law and the right to privacy should be freedoms enjoyed by women as well as men. But women will not be equal to men if this constitutionally protected right is denied.

This bill infringes on those rights for women, and that is why I oppose it."

Enron's Accountants Should Not Count Votes: Rep. Kucinich denounced the Defense Department's contract for a new Internet voting system for military personnel casting absentee ballots overseas. It was awarded to Accenture, formerly Arthur Anderson, based in Bermuda -- with a history of failings in computer systems. "Arthur Andersen couldn't count Enron's dollars; why should we trust its progeny, Accenture, to count the votes of our military personnel?" said Kucinich.

"This plan is nothing short of outsourcing the 2000 Florida election debacle overseas."

3RD PARTY LEADERS SUPPORT DENNIS

Natural Law Party leader and former presidential candidate John Hagelin has urged supporters to back Kucinich: “Dennis Kucinich has proven again and again that he will take a bold, principled, unequivocal stance for peace in our world. His campaign is gaining momentum across the nation and has drawn support from a broad, inclusive, and rapidly expanding coalition of voters, including young people and members of the nation’s largest third parties.” Former Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader has also urged support for Kucinich in the Democratic primaries.

Nader and Kucinich will appear together at a Democracy Rising rally next Tuesday evening in Washington D.C.:

ROY SCHEIDER ENDORSES DENNIS

Roy Scheider, the popular actor known for many TV and movie roles including "Jaws” and "All That Jazz," has thrown his support behind the Kucinich campaign and has pledged to help. Scheider told us: "Our country has taken 18 steps backward in every area we've made progress. Dennis Kucinich is the only candidate I see who does not speak in half-truths. He tells the whole truth."

LINDA BLAIR, TOO

Vegan/animal rights activist and actress (“The Exorcist”) Linda Blair has also endorsed Kucinich. Endorsements are coming in so fast, it could make anyone’s head spin!
