Following the campaign, October 6
From Karin Caifa:
UNOFFICIAL TALLY
Although not releasing a final tally until Oct. 15, the Kucinich campaign is reporting raising between $1.5 and $2 million in the third quarter. The campaign has also told me that about 95 percent of those donations will be eligible for federal matching funds beginning in January, which means they are $250 or less.
THE WEEK AHEAD
The House of Representatives is out of session, giving Kucinich time to take a breather from his West Coast campaign swing. He visited California for the third weekend in a row, at each stop voicing support for Dems in Tuesday’s recall because, as campaign press secretary David Swanson said, “he’s asked at every stop if he doesn’t bring it up first.” Kucinich was in Washington State on Sunday evening for a rally with the International Longshoremen and Warehouse Union in Tacoma. On Tuesday, despite the fact that every media outlet in the country will have eyes trained on California, Kucinich will appear at a rally in Washington with 2000 Green Party presidential candidate Ralph Nader. All 10 candidates were invited to participate in the rally, the 18th on the “Democracy Rising” tour; only Kucinich accepted. Kucinich has been actively pursuing third-party support and touting it as one of the advantages of his candidacy. Natural Law Party leader John Hagelin has endorsed Kucinich and Nader has encouraged Democrats to support Kucinich in the primaries while he mulls his own presidential bid. On Wednesday, Kucinich turns 57 and Kucitizens are holding celebrations nationwide. The campaign has also been encouraging supporters to donate $57 as a “birthday present” to the candidate. Kucinich will arrive in Phoenix just before the debate on Thursday with no pre-debate appearances scheduled. He will participate in a breakfast event in Phoenix on Friday morning.
