Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has officially endorsed the Immigrant Worker Freedom Ride being held from September 20 to October 4.

Rep. Kucinich supports the four goals of the Immigrant Worker Freedom Ride:

· Legalization and a "road to citizenship" for all immigrant workers in this country;
· The right of immigrant workers to re-unite their families;
· Protecting the rights of immigrants in the workplace;
· Protecting the civil rights and civil liberties of all.

Rep. Kucinich is Co-Chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, which works closely with the Hispanic Caucus and the Black Caucus to promote civil rights. Rep. Kucinich has co-sponsored a number of bills to help immigrants, including the Family Unity Legalization Act, which allows those who have been in the country for over five years to legalize their status; a bill supportive of refugees from Columbia and Peru; and a bill helping nationals from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti to become permanent residents. Kucinich is the
only presidential candidate who voted against the "Patriot Act."

Kucinich supports legalization and the creation of a clear path to citizenship for all immigrant workers in this country. A Kucinich administration would clear out the backlog in the naturalization process so that those who are eligible to become citizens can do so without delay, and would offer immigrants a straightforward road map to citizenship, so that they can become fully participating members of our communities.

Kucinich supports the right of immigrants to re-unite their families and the rights of immigrants to equal status in the workplace. Kucinich works to protect the civil rights and civil liberties of all. He believes there is no place in our country for second-class status.

Dennis Kucinich has also worked hard against sweatshops and became the first presidential candidate to support anti-sweatshop guidelines. See http://www.campaignforlaborrights.org/index/aug03/2-3.htm
