International Peace Day, 9/21/03
Did you know that September 21 is International Peace Day? The Kucinich campaign offers some suggestions on what you can do:
Peace Day
International Day of Peace
September 21, 2003
The United Nations has asked the world to observe a global ceasefire and day of nonviolence on Peace Day -- the International Day of Peace, September 21. Dennis Kucinich's Department of Peace bill includes the promotion of Peace Day. Kucinich supporters can play a major role in helping the world observe this call for peace in 3 simple but important ways:
1. Get your city's mayor or city council to declare a Proclamation of Peace for International Peace Day
2. Hold a Kucinich for Peace Day House Party
3. Wear Kucinich Gear and take flyers to organized activities other organizations sponsor on that day
These actions will help promote peace and help point out to the nation and national media that Dennis Kucinich's campaign is all about a more peaceful, just and sustainable nation working in harmony with our global community.
Proclamations:
Kucinich supporters across the nation can invite their Mayors to join other leaders all around the world in declaring a Proclamation of Peace for the International Day of Peace. In most cases, to get your Mayor to declare a proclamation all you have to do is ask. You can print a sample Proclamation out from http://www.PeaceDayUSA.org/proclamations.htm
So far 10 Governors have declared proclamations! You can also obtain a sample Resolution from your city council. Simply submit a sample proclamation to your Mayor or City Council along with your request
Once you obtain a Proclamation, you can get local media coverage and write letters to the editor of your local paper -- you will have locally participated in a global campaign and this is news! When you fax a copy of your proclamation to the Kucinich Peace Day Campaign (732-810-0404) the Kucinich Campaign will have a national story -- tens of thousands of Kucinich supporters are helping to bring a day of peace!
Peace Day Party:
The other way that Kucinich supporters can promote this campaign is to host a Peace Day Party. This is thematic House Party idea. Ideally Kucinich supporters would host hundreds and hundreds of Peace Day Parties all across the nation on Sunday, September 21 - the International Day of Peace. But a Peace Day Party can also be anytime leading up to Peace Day. A Peace Day Party is a great opportunity to build awareness in your community about peace and Dennis Kucinich's candidacy. It's a great way to raise funds for the campaign, too. For help putting on a Kucinich House Party for Peace, see our new House Party web page.
Peace Day Activities:
Contact your local Peace and Justice Centers or other Peace organizations and churches to find out about what activities they plan for that day and participate if you can not hold a Peace Party of your own.
All those who do host Peace Day Parties and who receive proclamations should let the Kucinich Peace Day Campaign know through email to houseparty@kucinich.us.
Digital pictures of the Peace Day Parties can be submitted to: Campaign Witness
The time is now. You are the grassroots. We can make a difference by joining this global initiative!

Shalom aleichem Malqha and thanks for visiting!! I share your hopes. This is more than just a regular presidential campaign, it's a way for ordinary Americans to take our country back from those who would lead us down the path of fear and war and hate. Whatever happens in the primaries and whatever happens next November, we must continue the struggle for peace and justice.
