1,000 Peace Day House Parties Expected For Kucinich on Sunday

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 16, 2003

In 1,000 homes spanning each of the 50 states, Kucinich volunteers are expected to gather at 'House Parties for Peace' on International Peace Day, September 21, to support and raise funds for presidential candidate Dennis J. Kucinich.

The U.N. has designated Sept. 21 as International Day of Peace, and it is celebrated worldwide. In less than two weeks of mobilizing by the Kucinich campaign, more than 1,000 Peace Day Party organizing kits have already been ordered. A key goal of Sunday's parties is fundraising.

Congressman Kucinich has won widespread support from the U.S. peace movement. He is the only presidential candidate who has unwaveringly opposed the War in Iraq from the beginning and led Congressional opposition to the war.

Kucinich is the only candidate...
-who has a specific plan to trim waste from the bloated Pentagon budget to fund education and childcare;
-who sued the Bush administration to save the ABM Treaty;
-who sponsors a bill to establish a cabinet-level Department of Peace;
-who won the Gandhi Peace Award of 2003;
-who was endorsed by Iowa's leading peace group, STAR*PAC.
