singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco to perform in support of Kucinich

The Mercury News included the following story in a round-up of campaign news:

Singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco, an indie-rocker known for songs about social ills and corporate greed, is taking her music to the Democratic presidential primary.

DiFranco will join country music singer Willie Nelson at a concert to benefit Dennis Kucinich, one of nine Democrats vying for the party's nod, the Ohio congressman's campaign announced Thursday.

The Sept. 6 concert at the State Theater in Cleveland will be the first to feature DiFranco and Nelson together. DiFranco will perform solo and Nelson with his full band.

Kucinich said DiFranco and Nelson are socially engaged artists and he's honored to have their help on his campaign.

Nelson, along with the David Zollo Band, will perform a benefit concert for Kucinich in Des Moines, Iowa, on Labor Day. Details on a third Nelson concert have not yet been released.
Tickets for both concerts cost between $30 and $42.50 and can be purchased on Kucinich's campaign Web site, http://www.kucinich.us
