Kucinich Says U.S. Should Turn Iraq Rebuilding To U.N.
August 22, 2003

Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich told a New Hampshire audience Friday that the United States needs to turn over responsibility for rebuilding Iraq to the United Nations.

Kucinich, an Ohio congressman, said the Bush administration has too many conflicting interests when it comes to Iraq. He was addressing a crowd of about 100 supporters in Keene.

He says the only way to regain credibility is let the U.N. come in and take over responsibility for Iraq's oil and rebuilding.

Kucinich voted against the congressional resolution last fall giving Bush authority to wage war in Iraq. He said he believes the war was wrong, but said he does not blame the soldiers who were sent to Iraq.
