U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich of Ohio, a Democratic presidential candidate, took jabs at the current administration as well as FirstEnergy as a guest on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show."
Kucinich, who represents Cleveland, got laughs Thursday night when he told host Jon Stewart that he wasn't allowed to tell him if he thought Bush's administration was secretive.
Stewart then asked him if Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld was a robot.
"I am on the committee that has oversight and I would have to say 'yes,'" Kucinich quipped.
When Stewart asked about the recent blackout, Kucinich didn't mention the Akron, Ohio-based power company by name but said he filed a petition to "cancel the franchise" being fingered for the blackout.
Kucinich told the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio on Wednesday that FirstEnergy should lose its operating license because the company is no longer able to provide reliable service.
He also has asked federal regulators to revoke FirstEnergy's authority to operate the Davis-Besse nuclear power plant along Lake Erie.
"They had this nuclear reaction there that had a hole in the lid and now they have this system that was instrumental in the blackout," he said. "If you have someone that was repeatedly driving drunk you take their keys away."
Stewart responded "so you take their coal generators away. I think that's reasonable."
