LONG SHOTS DO WIN! Join our SEABISCUIT CAMPAIGN.
This weekend, the movie "Seabiscuit" will open across the country, and hundreds of Kucinich volunteers will be there leafleting. The movie tells the true story of a small, relatively-unknown racehorse -- derided by the experts as a long shot with no chance of winning -- who not only wins, but inspires a nation in the midst of the Great Depression.
In city after city, Kucinich for President volunteers will greet moviegoers as they exit theaters with "Long Shots Do Win!" fliers and literature about Kucinich, a candidate similarly derided by the pundits but who is inspiring voters from coast to coast, as his campaign picks up speed just 5 months out of the starting gate. IMAGINE WHAT HE COULD DO AS PRESIDENT
As a member of Congress, Dennis Kucinich makes things happen, builds coalitions, gets measures passed and speaks truth to power. All in a single day.
Take yesterday, for example. As you read what the Congressman did yesterday on Capitol Hill, imagine what he could do as President. Imagine how quickly he could turn our country around on everything from foreign policy to civil liberties to saving high-wage manufacturing jobs to alleviating the pain of those living with illness.
1) He released a carefully-documented letter (written with two colleagues) asking VICE PRESIDENT CHENEY to account for his role in the bogus pronouncements that led our country to war in Iraq. TomPaine.com sent the letter around the world: http://www.tompaine.com/feature2.cfm/ID/8417
2) He continued his ANTI-WAR LEADERSHIP speaking eloquently from the House floor: "This administration, whose entry strategy was based on falsehood, with no exit strategy, has trapped our troops in Iraq and exposed them to greater harm." AP disseminated his comment widely: http://abcnews.go.com/wire/Politics/ap20030722_793.html
3) He testified before the International Trade Commission on measures needed to save the American steel industry and thousands of solid MIDDLE-CLASS JOBS in that industry.
4) On the House floor, he continued his longstanding effort for MEDIA DIVERSITY and joined a bipartisan group in Congress to block an FCC decision that would have allowed a few media monopolies to amass yet more control over public discourse.
5) He played a lead role in a bipartisan effort to repeal a key part of the "PATRIOT ACT" that allows the government to conduct secret "sneak and peek" searches of private property. The measure, cosponsored by Kucinich, passed 309 to 118.
6) He spoke out on the House floor, as he has on the campaign, for an amendment to stop Attorney General Ashcroft's crusade against patients who use MEDICAL MARIJUANA to alleviate their suffering in the 10 states that allow it.
Not bad for one day's work.

PETE SEEGER
The latest luminary to endorse Kucinich for President is Pete Seeger, the environmental and social justice activist who performed with Woody Guthrie, mentored dozens of younger folk singers and was blacklisted from TV and radio for years.
Seeger's song "Waist Deep in the Big Muddy," became an antiwar anthem as our country sank deeper into the Vietnam quagmire, a war based on White House deception. In 1967, after 17 years on the blacklist, CBS's Smothers Brothers Show invited Seeger to perform that song on national TV. When he refused to drop a verse to please network censors, the whole song was censored.
Ultimately, no one has been able to silence the voice of Pete Seeger. We're honored by his support.
