Kucinich: Today's Tape Once Again Proof War in Iraq Will Make World More Dangerous
Osama Bin Laden is a ruthless murderer who has used conflict in the Middle East as a recruitment tool in the past, and he is using potential conflict in Iraq to recruit more terrorists now, stated Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich (D-OH) today.
Kucinich, who leads opposition in the House to the war in Iraq, today issued the following statement:
"Today's message from Bin Laden does not indicate any relationship between Al Qaeda and Iraq. It does not indicate a relationship between Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. But, it does indicate how a United States preemptive war against Iraq will serve as a recruiting poster for Al-Qaeda and will make the world more dangerous.
"Osama Bin Laden is an opportunist, and he is obviously exploiting the potential of a U.S.-led war on Iraq in an effort to build his Al Qaeda network. Just as he has done with the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Bin Laden is trying to take advantage of the increasing concern in the region about a preemptive war against Iraq and manipulate it to recruit more Al Qaeda members.
"Today's tape is further proof that war in Iraq, far from making our country safer, will make our country, and the world more dangerous."
