printable version, part 1

In the tagline for each blog entry I have a link to a printable version of the entry. I'll explain more about this when I get to discussing my individual entry archives, since the printable version is based on the individual entry archive page.

There are several ways to create printable versions of your pages. The most common is to create a second set of archive templates. What I've done is almost like that, but not quite. Another method is to create a stylesheet for print media only. I won't discuss this here.

What I am doing is using the experimental mt-view.cgi script that comes with MT 2.6 to dynamically generate the printable pages. I'm using a hack by Stepan Riha that allows me to use multiple templates. Again, I'll explain more about this presently; I wanted to mention it while doing my survey of all the features on the veiled4allah page.

I'm using the mt-view.cgi script for more than just printable versions. More on this later too, inshallah.

This pretty much concludes my survey of the veiled4allah page and of the index pages in general. Next up will be the category archives, inshallah.
