another anti-spam technique
Google, Yahoo, and MSN have instituted the new "nofollow" attribute; if a link has rel="nofollow" as an attribute, these search engines will not follow the link. Why is this important? When Google follows a link from your site to another site, it takes it as a "vote" for the other site and gives the other site higher PageRank, which means that it appears higher in search results.
Comment spammers are trying to game this system by seeding your blog with links to their sites so that they can get higher PageRank. The "nofollow" attribute is an attempt by Google and the other major search engines to counteract this problem.
Six Apart has released a plugin for MT that will automatically add the "nofollow" attribute to all links in comments and trackback pings submitted to your blogs.
Just upload the plugin file to your "plugins" directory and you're good to go.
This isn't a "magic bullet" that will cure comment spam, but every little bit helps.

Salaam. Could you help me with MT? Have lots of questions...trying to learn the ropes and doing a new install.

As-salaamu alaykum,
This blog isn't really meant to serve as a support forum or help desk, since I have a full-time job elsewhere. If you have a specific question about what I've posted to this blog, feel free to leave a comment about it. If you have a general question about how to do something in MT, you're much better off going to the MT support forums. You'll find lots of people there at any time of the day or night, many of whom are much more knowledgeable than I am.
Thanks!

I have attempted to email you several times only to find no replies. I pretty much gave up! I have even approached ZACK and Sister Scorpion to find out how I can get in touch with you.
I have an idea that I would like to share with you and in hopes that you can provide a little assistance with MT. I have completed the install for MT...just need a lil help in designing the template.
Have you ever been to my site? I tend to send your way links quite a bit! I dig your site!!

As-salaamu alaykum,
I'm sorry to seem so unapproachable but I really am not able to provide consulting or design services relating to MT or to help an individual person with their site. I barely even have time to keep up this blog. Please try the MT support forum.
Thanks again.

Salaamz. I can appreciate that you are busy. Anyhow - I did email you to introduce myself...a reply would have been appreciated.
This is the deal.... I have started a blog for muslim children. The site is in process...I installed MT, however I am having issues with designing the template. Nonethless I would appreciate your support in this endeavor which will bring Muslim children together and give them an opportunity to voice their ideas, thoughts, etc. The blog will be non-political in nature. A place for unity and peace! I will have essay contests during ramadan, eid, etc and hopefully pick up sponsors for prizes, etc.
Check out the site:

I will appreciate a link from your site and spreading the word. I will start locally here in Buffalo and eventually open it up to different cities. I need to figure out logistics right now....perhaps that is something you can assist with...since you know MT.
In my I's U R a genius @ MT....so whatever U can do will B mucho appreciated.
Create Peace!

As-salaamu alaykum,
I have the greatest admiration and respect for what you're working on and I would be glad to link to it; however for the third and final time, I am simply not able to provide MT consulting services or design services. I would appreciate if you would respect my wishes in this matter and not continue asking again and again.
Thank you.
