The purpose of Al-Muhajabah's Movable Type Tips is to provide explanations of how I make use of the built-in functionality of Movable Type, and of plugins and scripts, to set up the features at Al-Muhajabah's Islamic Blogs. This is a personal site and is not connected with Six Apart, Ltd, the makers of Movable Type.
AMIB uses MT 2.661 and hasn't been upgraded due to its highly customized set-up. Most if not all tips should work with more recent versions of MT as well. I also have an MT 3 installation (currently version 3.2) that runs this and my other public blogs besides AMIB. The MT 3 category contains tips that are specific to MT 3, and refers to this and/or my other blogs rather than AMIB.
Al-Muhajabah's Movable Type Tips is not a general guide to things you can do with Movable Type; it focuses on how I set up the features on my site. I don't cover tips and tricks that I haven't implemented yet. Please check out the resources linked from the main page if you're looking for something I don't have on my site.
Al-Muhajabah's Movable Type Tips is not a support forum or help desk. If you have a specific question about what I've posted to this blog, feel free to leave a comment about it. If you have a general question about how to do something in MT, you're much better off going to the MT support forums. You'll find lots of people there at any time of the day or night, many of whom are much more knowledgeable than I am. Be smart and look for help in the right place.
N.B. I don't want to re-invent the wheel. For basic set-up instructions for any part of MT, a plugin, or a script, I'll refer you to a resource page by the developer. What I concentrate on here is how I specifically adapted the trick for my site.
