get thee to Prometheus 6

Date: May 12, 2004 | 22 Rabi al-Awwal 1425 Hijriah
Subjects: race
I'm really slow getting on this, but I just wanted to point people on over to Prometheus 6. Brother P6 recently found himself being called out by name by Joe Taylor of Open Source Politics (it bugs me that it was posted there, given my (dormant) association with that blog) as a racist. P6 is African-American and a self-identified "black partisan". Joe had never bothered to post comments at P6's blog to ask him more about his views and apparently had never contacted him privately by email either. He just wrote this screed and is now defending it against all comers. P6 has a number of posts about it, sharing some of the interesting comments he's received and discussions he's had, as well as some of his own thoughts on the issues. His first post is here, and it's worth it to scroll through his weekly archive page to find the other responses.

Much as many of us would like to pretend otherwise, race is still very much an issue in America today, or we wouldn't still be having these firestorms.
