Completely OT, are you as bummed as I am by the news that Talmadge is going to drop out? According to the article, he had the least money of the three, and how awful is it that Sims had more money than Talmadge. And the big above-the-fold article on Gregoire in yesterday's paper wasn't any big surprise. I was hoping I would actually have to make a decision between Talmadge and the Republican candidate but if Gregoire is the Democrat nominee, there's no contest. Wake me on election day.

For those outside the Seattle area, here's the most recent article I found online from the Seattle Times (you may need to register. Sorry). This reminds me a lot of the way that momentum built up for first Dean and then Kerry in the presidential race and other candidates never got any traction. People don't want to give their support to a dark horse candidate. Of course, without their support that candidate is doomed to remain a dark horse whereas a surprise endorsement of a dark horse could make that candidate competitive.
Believe me, I am anything but thrilled at the "win at all costs" mentality displayed by some Democrats. What's the point of winning if you don't stand for anything by the time you do?
