Islamist group publishes book refuting Bin Laden

Date: January 16, 2004 | 23 Dhu-l-Qidah 1424 Hijriah
Back in September of last year, I posted an entry called Egyptian jihad?. This looked at the history of Egyptian militant groups and their relationship with al-Qa'ida.

In the entry, I mentioned a group called Gama'a Islamiya (also spelled Jama'a Islamiya), which in 1997 renounced violence. Jama'a Islamiya have now published a book criticizing the strategy and bombings committed by al-Qa'ida and al-Qa'ida's understanding and interpretation of Islam.

The book is being published by Al-Sharq Al-Aswat, an Arabic language newspaper owned by Saudi Arabia and published in London.

Al-Sharq Al-Aswat has published a review and description of the book on their website (see link above); you can read an English translation of the review here.
