I echo those sentiments for you Al-M, and all of your readers.Thank you Al-Muhajabah for the hard work you devote to your site and blogs. May the coming year be even more successful for you incha'allah.
There are very tough and heated issues addressed in this site, so I ask forgiveness from anyone who feels I transgressed bounds in any instance of discussions here. I really learn from this place...and the learning process includes making mistakes at times.

Al-Salaam alaikum. Just wanted to say I have been reading your blog for a little while now and I really like your writing and your perspective. I don't always agree with you (for one thing, I am an atheist; for another, Kucinich is a little too liberal for meI am curious about one thing, if I may ask a question (perhaps this is answered elsewhere on your site, though I have not found it). You have mentioned that your family is non-Muslim. Also, I am guessing that you are American born/raised? How did you come to be a Muslim? Also, I have been perusing your Islamic blog (I was an Arabic linguist in the Army and have just recently started trying to "refresh" my Arabic proficiency), and was wondering if Arabic is your native language, or if you began learning it after becoming a Muslim?

Thanks for visiting, AmadanI was born and raised here in America by a non-Muslim family. You can read a brief bio here (it's linked from the sidebar of the blog but I suppose it's easy to miss with all the other sidebar stuff I have, lol) and it has a link to my longer conversion story.
I don't speak Arabic and I don't really read it very well either; however, I've gained knowledge of a lot of Arabic words and phrases through my studies of Islam.
Again, welcome and feel free to comment on anything you want. I don't mind differing points of view, in fact I encourage them as long as people are committed to a respectful dialogue
