I pray you are correct. But I also pray that any politician or cleric who calls for killing and war will fall prey to thoughts of peace and stop all this lunacy. My heart breaks for the children of this world whose parents perpetrate the evils of war and killing. They are the true victims and I do not see an end in sight.Subject: Re: it\'s time to Google bomb again
Hey! What happened, where is the moderate Islam that advocates freedom of Speech?I posted a comment yesterday about typing in unelectable and seeing all Howard Dean links?
Did you delete it and why? Did I lie? What is your reason?
Subject: Re: it\\\'s time to Google bomb again
Your comment was deleted because it contained, in addition to the comment about "unelectable" links, a personal attack on another commentor. If you will read the rules before you post, you will see that this kind of conduct is clearly stated as not allowed.I hate to break it to you, but you are not the first right-winger to come to this site thinking to troll the comments, and you won't be the last. It doesn't really show any great bravery or patriotism on your part, it mostly comes across as rude and ill-mannered.
Have a nice day.

Right Winger? hmm? What makes you think I am a right-winger? I voted for Gore. I guess you are guilty of supposition.Oh, sorry, now I remember:
My comments about the other commentor was that she bought the conspiracy theory that the US came up with some fake Saddam to show off to the world.
So now we have her believing in conspiracy theories and you practicing on of Islam's great achievments: Censorship of Freedom of Speech.
I'm sorry, but I hardly launched a personal attack on a commentor. And I think its great that you jump to conclusions about me being a right-winger. I'm actually quite impressed that you didn't call me a neo-con or a zionist or something. Kudos on originality!
Subject: Re: it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
Whatever you choose to call it, your behavior is still rude and obnoxious. Well, I hope that you're enjoying yourself and have confirmed all your stereotypes about Muslims. Have a nice day.
Subject: Re: it\'s time to Google bomb again
Actually it was you who stereotyped me thinking that I have stereotypes of Muslims. You see, in fact, I live in Detroit and a large majority of my friends are Muslims. A couple are Palestinians (old roommates from college), 2 Iranian sisters, an Egyptian, and a Syrian. We all debate all the time, and I'm open to discussion. You see, though, they live in the US and have freedoms which many Muslims, especially women do not enjoy.
I just think its funny to read what many Muslims throughout the world think and yes, I think the majority outside the West believe:
1. that Jews control the world
2. that the West is evil and that they are victims of the West's persecution.
3. they believe the "Big Lie" that 9-11 was a plot by the Jews and the US to create a reason to attack Muslims.
4. believe in a culture of death where Martyrdom is rewarded and that the killing of innocents is justified by the Koran
5. speak of peace in English and speak of Jihad in Arabic when talking about Peace in the Mid East or about the West.
6 Believe that Israel should not exist, and it hurts them soo much to use that word, that they subnstitute it with "The Zionist Entity" in an attempt to discredit that Israel does actually exist and is much more prosperous and tolerant of all cultures than any nation in the mid-east.
Anyway, I found your site be researching CAIR and I noticed on this site has disclaimers that CAIR is soo innocent and has no ties with terrorism, when most Americans know better. I'd love to debate this with you if you like?
Subject: Re: it\\\'s time to Google bomb again
Ah, yes the "most of my friends are..." argument. Of course you can't be prejudiced. How silly of me! I was misled by your sweeping generalizations and tendency to attribute whatever you don't like about me to Islam. My mistake. If you want to spend all your time trying to prove that most Muslims are vile and beneath contempt, you are certainly free to do so. There are plenty of websites where you will be welcomed with open arms and you will find a large audience to cheer you on.
Do you hope to expose me as stupid, a hypocrite or worse? Do you hope to convince me out of the error of my ways or to prevent other people from being deluded by me into thinking that most Muslims are reasonable people? Trust me, this blog is not as important in the larger scheme of things as you imagine.
Subject: Re: it\'s time to Google bomb again
No, none of those things actually. And I don't think Muslims are beneath contempt.Yeah, I know where you are going with the "most of my friends are" but I only said that because in YOUR assumption, you believed I knew nothing about Muslims or any.
Let's start over. Maybe I could have come out a little friendlier, but all day long, reading about how evil I am, how I control the world (yet I still work), I get a little think-skinned and then I come out and read all the stuff on your site that just irked me. So, I apologize if I came out a little agro.
In the end, the most common thread you and I have being ()-Americans is that neither the democrats, nor the republicans are truely "on our side". We're both stuck in a situation where both parties pay us lip service about our respective cultures or countries we support, though they always stab us in the back. Common, Kucinish has no chance, you and I know that. And I would never vote for Lieberman out of principal that a Jew in office would be extra hard on Israel to prove he has no dual-identity. Bush, who many Muslims believe caters to Israel has stabbed the Israelis in the back on multiple occassions and continue to do so. Such as supporting the Geneva frauds and denouncing the seperation fence.
Look, I really have no problems with Muslims nor any other group of people, however, when I read the team names at www.muslimfootball.com or that Ibrahim Cooper from CAIR has mentioned that they advocate America to be a Muslim state, I get seriously defensive. I enjoy the freedoms that this country provides both of us, and I don't plan on living under Sharia law or as a Dhimmi ever in my life.
Anyway, sorry to come and bother you on your blog. I guess I need one of my own. Anyway, hope there's no hard feelings and one day we can all be free of the aggression that plagues us all.
Salam a Lecham, Shalom, Meer, Peace, etc.

Now, that's much better. You know, if you spend "all day" reading anti-Semitic materials, you should try to broaden your selection of reading materials.Anti-Semitism is indeed a major problem among Muslims, and I've written about it before on a number of occasions. However, when you accuse Zafira of being anti-Semitic when she posits that Bush is engaged in a nefarious plot, you're jumping the gun and reading into her words things that aren't there. When you do that because she's Muslim and you assume that you know what Muslims think, that comes across as prejudiced.
You'll notice that I didn't delete any of your comments that were about me, however negative your words were, only the one in which you made negative comments about another person. When I invite you into my "house" (my blog), I take the risk that you'll be rude to me. But when you're rude to other people, then I have a problem with that.
I have a feeling that you and I will disagree strongly about a number of issues. I strongly condemn all suicide bombings and murder of civilians (I have also written about this on a number of ocassaions) but I do believe that many of Israel's tactics are also worthy of condemnation because they are collective punishment against an entire people for the acts of some among them. This is the position of most Muslims that I know.
Which brings me back to where we started. There are approximately 1.2 billion Muslims around the world. You do not know anything about their views because they have no access to the media. They don't even take part in demonstrations, they are just going about their lives the same as anyone else. The loudest and most extreme voices get the most attention, but you should be careful before assuming that they speak for other people. In fact, everything you've said so far suggests a very selective reading, that you are relying on sources who always look for the negative and highlight it and who never look for the positive. If five people say bad things and five people say good things but you only read the five bad things, you get a distorted picture of reality.
The football players that you mentioned are unlikely to be some kind of evil menace. Most likely, they are like many other young men of that age, eager to show how macho and tough they are and oblivious to how others might perceive their actions. Stupid, but not dangerous. I'm really a bit confused if you think that CAIR is somehow "in league with terrorists" because it didn't sufficiently condemn this.
As for the other statement that you mentioned, I've been on CAIR's mailing list for nearly five years and I have never seen them promote any such thing. If they secretly believe it, they're doing a damn good job of hiding it. Seriously, to anybody who has actually read their press releases, this accusation is so far removed from what we actually see CAIR saying that it seems almost ridiculous.
P.S. The reason I assumed you were a "right-winger" is that your original comment bashed Democrats and without any further context seemed to imply support of Bush. Also, quite frankly, the attitude that you displayed towards Muslims is one that I have usually encountered from right-wingers not from Democrats.

Now, that's much better. You know, if you spend "all day" reading anti-Semitic materials, you should try to broaden your selection of reading materials.ROTFL! Really.
I guess what I have such a hard time with (and al-M, I could really use some pointers from you on this) is when people come here brimming with entitlement issues, e.g. being rude to other posters, then whining about "freedom of speech" when they get deleted. How do you handle it so well?
Subject: Re: it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
It depends. Sometimes I have to take some time out to calm down. Other times, I try to "kill them with kindness" as the saying goes. It depends on my mood.Subject: Re: it\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
Also, there is a very famous line from Proverbs (15:1) that says, "A soft answer turneth away wrath." Is there something similar in Islam?Subject: Re: it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
There are plenty of instructions to restrain one's anger and to refrain from bad words. There's probably a pithy saying to the effect of the proverb, but I'm not up to searching for it at this hour. The only thing that comes to mind at the moment is that when some people said to the Prophet (pbuh) "Death be to you", he replied "And to you". Which may not be what's meant by the proverb but I've always thought it was an effective way of turning someone's rudeness back on them.Subject: Re: it\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
"And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (God) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness."This translation of Surah al-Furqan Ayah 63 obviously includes some explanation in terms of the translation it uses and the words in parentheses.
Literally the verse can be translated to say "when the ignorant address them they say "Peace!"
There other verses and hadeeth expressing similar ideas. It is such a powerful lesson in da'wah or teaching about Islaam. Like many da'wah tools, the key lies in knowing how to react in a certain situation. There are times to react with overwhelming kindness to ignorance, times to react with the wa 'alaykum (and upon you) times to completely ignore, times to react with strong condemnations. It requires deep understanding of the Qur'an and Sunnah and of the nature of different human beings, but most of all complete sincerity to God.
May God give us those characteristics.
Peace,
Abu Noor al-Irlandee

Brother, thank you! I knew that there was something that was much better than what I mentioned but I was too tired late last night when I wrote that comment to think of what it was. May Allah reward youSubject: Re: it\\\\\\\'s time to Google bomb again
Wow..my oversensitive nature prevents me from wanting to ask what he said exactly, but jazak'allah khayrin for acting in my defenseI echo the question of the other commentor (LauraJ?) that asked you how you put up with these things every day...I certainly couldn't. I've had enough just after that hijab thread a few days back. Why is it so important for people to engage in an argument with me or attack me when they consider me a waste of oxygen in the first place?
You've got incredible sabr and professionalism -- I hang around here hoping it will rub off on me
Allah Ta'aala yahafizak wa yajazik.
