Dear Al-Muhajabah,There is not anti-Jesihness at all. I wsih u were at the conference. The Malaysian PM was just illustrating that we should follow the Jews in their way of regaining our "glory" and escaping the backwardness that were are in now. His advise sounds similar to your exhortations that you have posted at the numerous places that you have indicated.

If you think that, you can't have read my writings very closely. Imagine that a Christian or Jewish leader said that about Muslims. I think that will help you see what is wrong with what Mohammed said.He had some good points to make but either he felt he had to pander to his audience or he couldn't resist running off at the mouth and now nobody will remember the good things he said, because of this furor. That is just plain stupid.

I have typed a rather long comment on this but cannot post it to you. So im just testing to see whether this short note gets posted or not.Subject: Re: worth reading
OK, now i have to retype my could-not-get-posted comment.Muhajabah,
I cant imagine a situation where a Christian or Jewish leader will say that "... rule the world by proxy", simply because the 1.3 billion Muslims are so weak and divided that they never give the impression that they rule the world by proxy.
(Is there a limit to the length of a post to be able to get posted?)

To continue... Mahathir invited an Israeli youth hockey team to Malaysia som years back against so much opposition from Muslim activists (Some of these activists were later sentenced to prison for unruly demonstrations). So i dont think he's anti-Jew. Malaysian Muslims are used to Mahathir's rantings about what we (which are economically less advanced than the Malaysian non-Muslims) did wrong compared to the non-Muslims in terms of thoughts, habits and attitudes. His bringing the same theme to a global forum does not surprise us.Subject: Re: worth reading
To continue again... The stablishment of state of Israel represents the culmination of years of thinking and planning by the Jews. If not for the violence that follows until now, it may be the model for others to follow in setting up their nation-states, e.g. Kurdistan. If I were a Jew, I would have been very proud by the acknowledgement by Mahathir of what my race have achieved. The Muslims should take a leaf from those Jewish nationalists who are clear of what they wanted and how to get it. The furor that arose was because of the way it was reported by the Press and the jittery situation that we are in now.Subject: Re: worth reading
To "...had to pander to his audience..." Please add "...and the media's panderings to their readership..."Subject: Re: worth reading
If you want to defend everything that he said, that's your choice. I personally found it offensive because it makes it sound as though all Jews are alike and work in concert to the same end, which is most assuredly not the case. Like with any other people, there are Jews who work for justice and do what is right, and Jews who do not. I don't like it when people act like all Muslims are alike and work in concert and because I feel that way, I try not to do that to anybody else. It's that simple.P.S. No, there should be no limit to the length of comments. You may have experienced a server error unrelated to the length of your comment.

I wanted to add to the above that the idea that "the Jews control the world by proxy" is ludicrous in itself as well as assuming that the Jewish people act in some sort of conspiracy or concert (which I focused on in the comment above). I would recommend that you read this, as well as the comments to it. You may wish to take some time to learn more about Christian Zionists, who are discussed later in the comments on that entry.Subject: Re: worth reading
"...dont like it when people act like all Muslims are alike..." Same here. We may share the same faith but I love the diversity within. It would be plain boring if we were all the same.Subject: Re: worth reading
I visited Open Source Politics using your hyperlinks. It looks very interesting. But there is one oddity about the site. You can't actually contact anyone who runs or administers the site. I wanted to ask how one could become a writer for the site (since I blog on progressive politics), but there's no info about that. I suppose that you'd have to be invited to do so. But how are those decisions made & by whom?I know you don't run the site, but perhaps you could forward my comment to a responsible party at Open Source?
