A hell-fearing Christian fundamentalist farmer has mounted a constitutional challenge to prevent his driver's licence photo being placed in a central data bank. George Bothwell told a packed press conference in Toronto on Wednesday that the Book of Revelations warns that any such use of an individual's image automatically aligns him with Satan.I recommend reading the whole article, it's quite interesting.
"The Bible says that he who worships the beast or receives his image shall drink the wine of the wrath of God," Mr. Bothwell said, quoting several ominous-sounding passages by heart.
"That prophecy was written two millennia ago, when there was really no vocabulary to describe the technology that has come up on this," he said. "The God of the Bible wants individual freedom. This system enforces external control over people."
Mr. Bothwell's lawyer, Clayton Ruby, said the provision allows government bureaucrats too much leeway in deciding whether they find a person's religious beliefs to be sincere.
Far from being a fundamentalist flake, Mr. Ruby argued that his client is a deeply religious man who truly believes he will go to hell if the government stores his photograph in digital form.

George Bothwell is obviously a Fruitcake of major proportions.Subject: Re: driver\'s license photo a tool of satan?
As an agnostic I find it odd that religious people think they know what God is thinking. They say, "God said this or that." But actually, they try to give their ideas authority by saying God says this. I find it sad that science, man's search for the absolute truth, is twisted into some hellish, demonic practice. I find it odd that Osama Bin Laden sells heroin to finance murder, and he says it is to fight a holy war. I also, to be fair, find it disgusting that Bush says he is trying to free Iraq, when he actually just wants free oil. I respect the Iraq people that fight their occupation. So, in closing, driver's license photographs may be poor photos, but there is no evil attached to them. Although I am concerned that my social security number and driver's license number is all someone needs to know to commit identify theft.
