Subject: Re: Muslim voices /hijab and discrimination
Wow, what a surprise to find I was quoted in Ikram Saeed's statement collection. I had to laugh at the one person who commented "It can't be that bad, can it?"I was puzzled by the comment that stated "less analytical, more documentary, poignant for it's dispassionate" whatever, and that after reading it he was left "oddly diminished". Huh? I'm quite sure I wasn't looking to have that sort of effect...umm, whatever that effect was...I was just venting . And oh it felt good.
Update: there's a woman here on two years' probationary leave from her social worker job because she put on hijab. She is fighting it in the courts. She just may win...but with the legal system as it is here, she may be too old to need to wear hijab by then.

As I explained in the first of the new series (you can see that this post is number 3), I brought it back in a much shorter version, in which I only examine a shortlist of blogs. Anybody who isn't satisfied is more than welcome to do it themselves.Subject: Re: Muslim voices (short version) 3
Zafira -- I hope you don't mind that I posted your comment on my blog. I thought it was very well written, and wanted to give it wider circulation. I will certainly take it down if you would prefer not to have it so public.
