busy, busy, busy

Date: September 18, 2003 | 21 Rajab 1424 Hijriah
Sorry for the general lack of substantive posts to veiled4allah this week.

I finally finished the huge database project I've been doing for NWIRP. They've been around for 19 years so as you might guess they have a lot of case files that need to be entered into their database. Earlier this year, they went through and did an inventory of open case files. I've been comparing the inventory sheets with the database. Sometimes the case was already in the database and I just needed to check that the information matched. But there were a lot of cases, mostly from 10-15 years ago, that had never been officially closed for one reason or another (often, they lost touch with the client) that were not in the database. So then I created new database records for these cases.

There's still more that will need to be done with the database, but I'm getting a break from that and will be helping out with various support tasks on current cases. My supervisor is currently working on a case that is connected to another case that NWIRP handled some eight years ago. We need to get in touch with the lady who handled the old case, who is no longer with NWIRP, to see if she can help clear a few things up. So my task was to see if I could track down a current phone number. Something interesting and different. I like it smile

Saturday, I am hoping, inshallah, to attend the send-off rally in Seattle for the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride, which NWIRP has been active in organizing, although I'll be attending as a private citizen not on the job. Later in the day, I hope to connect with Jeremy Puma and Lilith Devlin for coffee and a meal, inshallah. Both are my colleagues at Open Source Politics. Lilith lives in D.C. but is coming out to the other Washington on business and wants to meet with some Seattle bloggers.

Update: The blogger meeting has been rescheduled for Sunday morning and it looks like Dave Neiwert will be there as well, inshallah. We'll be getting together at International House of Pancakes.
