in memory

Date: September 11, 2003 | 13 Rajab 1424 Hijriah
Subjects: prayer
vigil

American Muslims join the interfaith vigil National Day of Unity to remember the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. That whoever kills a single soul for other than a soul killed or for corruption in the earth, it is as though he had killed all of humanity together, and whoever saves the life of a single soul, it is as though he had saved the life of all of humanity together - Quran Surah al-Ma'ida ayah 32 May Allah embrace in His infinite mercy and loving forgiveness the innocents who died and may He bring swift and final justice upon those who committed such an atrocity. May we bring some good out of a terrible evil by being inspired once again to work together for justice and peace, and may we reach out with love to others instead of withdrawing in fear or lashing out in anger. Let the memory of our loss open our hearts to mourn as well the loss of innocent lives elsewhere in the world, wherever it may be happening. Let us not see only our own pain. May Allah forgive us our shortcomings and sins and help and guide us towards a better future. Ameen.

It is truly a sad day in America, and should be around the world. Two years ago we saw the barbarity of ancient religious fundamentalism, and the power of modern technology collide to bring death and destruction upon innocent people.

Muslims, Christians, Jews and those without faith should mourn together whenever innocents are killed whether they are in Africa, Palestine, India or Israel. We certainly must also learn to accept one another, and agree to understand that we will always have different opinions and beliefs. We should openly reject forces in society that seek to divide, and instruct people of different faiths to murder and reject one another.

surely a sad day for america.......but Allah has his own designs and i am sure when we look back at it after may be 10-15 years, it will be seen as something which accelerated the decline of america's power and global dominance........thanks to some terrible lunatic leadership in the white house and an ignorant manipulable public opinion, post 9/11 america is treading down the path of doomed empires

inshallah the world will be a safer place without america being able to play god

Surely a sad day for humanity. Maybe the Allah will use this as the beginning of his chastisement of the Wahabi suicide cult, which is seeking to destroy and pervert the meaning of Islam, and mislead so many down the path of destruction.

I hope that we will someday be able to look at each other in the eye, around th world, and say I love you. I love you for your differences, I love you for all you are, and we are together.

Very interesting that you view the victims of this attack to be the villains and say not ONE word about the perpetrators...

Here is what I wrote about those who died in the attack:

May Allah embrace in His infinite mercy and loving forgiveness the innocents who died

And here is what I wrote about those who committed the attack:

may He bring swift and final justice upon those who committed such an atrocity

I also described the attack as

a terrible evil

I suggest that you read my post again. I trust that my meaning will be more clear the second time around. Please do not make such an obscene suggestion about me again.

Oh. Sorry for jumping on you like that. I couldn't tell who your comment was directed at because it shows up right below Anthony's rather than Shamil's and it didn't have a name in it.

I doubt that Shamil will come back; it seems like one of those "hit and run" type comments. But if he does, I hope he'll take heed of the words in my original post and take the anger and the hatred from his heart.
