I'm still in part one, but I've already learned a lot and I look forward to reading the rest.My interest in this was sparked by the book I'm reading right now. It's a mystery novel called "The Skull Mantra" by Eliot Pattison. It really gives a look into Tibetan culture and the situation in Tibet today. The second book in the series, which I bought today, is set partly in Xinjiang.

I just had time to glance at this, but it looks interesting. Did you know the Barmakids were originally Buddhist?Volume II of Andre Wink's Al-Hind: The Making of the Indo-Islamic World also covers Muslim-Buddhist relations in India, before Buddhism's final collapse there. I have to talk him up, because he was on my prelim committee
