Muslim voices 8/9 to 8/16

Date: August 16, 2003 | 17 Jumada al-Akhir 1424 Hijriah
Subjects: muslim, blogs
Annie shares her thoughts about the blackout.

Abdullah posts a reminder about emotions that are bad for us.

Adnan reflects on the blackout.

Aizuddin Danian writes about racial issues in Malaysia.

Sara Mahmud has more inspirational posts.

Bin Gregory posts about some strange fruit that he found.

Yasmine posts a story illustrating that wealth and poverty are sometimes in the eye of the beholder. What are you rich in that you don't think about?

Burhan shares his own experiences of the blackout.

Cindy also shares experiences of the blackout (August 15). And one of her pet cats recently gave birth to 5 kittens (August 10) so she is overwhelmed with felines right now! (blog has no permalinks)

Ruby has moved her blog to a new URL.

Daniyah talks about her explorations of Melbourne.

DeOwl reflects on how it has been since she moved to Pakistan (August 14; blog does not appear to have permalinks).

KaZ has moved his blog, to TypePad.

Lindsay posts about the meanings of various types of dreams (third entry of August 13; blog does not appear to have permalinks).

Nazim posts about corruption in cricket.

Waleed posts some memories (August 11; blog does not appear to have permalinks).

Iggry posts about a camping trip with his kids.

Saima posts about Britain's heat wave.

Sana posts about the pop group Outlandish, whose song "Aisha" has been generating some talk in the Muslim blogosphere.

Jabir has a whole slew of good posts up this week. The page seems to automatically forward to another site after a few minutes though confused

Sina (Linda) posts about polygamy.

Shi'a Pundit talks about a blogging debate that seems to have sprung up over one of my older posts and shares his own thoughts. The issue is who gets to Paradise and who doesn't.

Smiling Whisper shares a poem about our prayers and how Allah answers them (August 9; blog does not appear to have permalinks).

The Islamic Feminista joins the campaign to protest Bush's attempts to nominate Islamophobe Daniel Pipes to the U.S. Institute of Peace.

Think Halal posts about the Bush Administration's latest public relations campaign to win over Arab hearts and minds. Note to Bush: You might try changing the substance of your policies instead. That's what Arabs are generally opposed to. A high-gloss new advertising campaign doesn't change that.

The To Submit community has a pro-Palestinian appeal up.

Serenity tells us about her cross-country road trip.

Saadat posts about Pakistan Independence Day.

Like many other Muslim bloggers, Umair Salam got caught in the blackout.

Uzer, however, was reminded of SimCity (August 15; permalinks are bloggered).

But Yaser has more.

Chocoholic is thinking a lot about why she didn't make the effort to feed a homeless man who was looking for food.

Menj is a new addition to the Islamic Blogs blogroll. He has a variety of interesting posts up looking at Islamic issues including whether there is an Islamic fascism.

Ruby has started an Islamic articles blog.

Arash has a ton of posts up, about Israel and Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, and more. Afghan Voice is shaping up to be a very good blog.

alt.muslim posts about the missile sting operation, which caught a Hindu and a Jew along with a Muslim. This is one weird story.

Muslim Wake Up posts on a movie about Muslim women in America.

Thebit posts about his trip to Spain. He has also set up a new TypePad blog where he has an excellent post about moral nihilism.

Idlan looks back on her visit to Malaysia so far.

Zack Ajmal was part of the bloggers debate that Shi'a Pundit posted about. Here he shares his thoughts on what religion is for. He also experienced the blackout.

Ubaid shares his thoughts on the ordination of a gay bishop by the Episcopalian church.

Umar reports on the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Aziz Poonawalla reminds Americans that Iraqis too have been enduring an electricity blackout - one that has been going on much longer and in much worse conditions (August 15; permalinks are bloggered).
