I have yet another blog

Date: July 06, 2003 | 6 Jumada al-Awwal 1424 Hijriah
Subjects: blogs, typepad
I've been selected to be a beta tester for TypePad the new hosted blogging service from the creators of Movable Type. Since I already have MT installed on my own webspace I don't intend to use TypePad as my blogging tool in the future, but I figured I could help them out by testing the service and seeing if there are any bugs. At the end of the beta test period, I'll either export the blog into my existing MT installation or delete it, inshallah.

As part of the beta testing user agreement I can't say too much about TypePad's functionality and features on the backend but I will say that it is extremely easy to use, especially designing a template for your blog, and that it offers much more functionality than Blogger does. I think that people who like Blogger will find it just right for their needs and will appreciate the extra options and flexibility.

Because I already have a large number of blogs, I didn't have any creative ideas for original content. Instead, I'm using the blog to post articles and existing information about a pet topic of mine.

The blog is called Muslims For Kucinich and is available at either of the following URLs:

http://muhajabah.typepad.com
http://muhajabah.typepad.com/muslims4kucinich

Right now the blog is pretty basic. I copied and pasted some information from the Kucinich campaign site to make some posts and I did a test comment just to have some content up. I'm also sending a trackback ping with this post to test that functionality.

I am able to add guest authors to my account. If you think that you might want to use TypePad when it is released to the public and you would like to get a sneak preview of what it's like to use TypePad, please email me. I can set up multiple blogs on my account, so no you don't have to contribute to the Muslims For Kucinich blog if you don't want to (although you are more than welcome to!) - I can set up a separate blog for you to post to. You'll have very limited access as an author only, not a blog creator, but you should be able to discover if you like the interface and if you like the kind of blog TypePad produces. Again, please email me if you are interested and we can discuss it.

Keep in mind that the Muslims For Kucinich blog is for testing purposes only. I may delete it at the end of this. You are welcome to post comments to it, send it trackback pings, or whatever, but don't expect any of that to be permanent. Think of it as a place to test the functionality of the comment and trackback systems. Debate and discussion of the issues is better posted to this blog here.

Update 7/8: The guest author function of TypePad is still under construction. If you are interested in being a guest author, email me and I'll let you know when I can add you, inshallah.
