just dropped by to say salam (hi)

Date: June 24, 2003 | 23 Rabi al-Akhir 1424 Hijriah
Busy day today. I attended a meeting of the Family Law Roundtable, which featured an hour-long presentation and discussion on the question of unauthorized practice of law, recent trends in Washington state, and how this affects legal services organizations. The meeting also featured discussions of some issues related to domestic violence, which seems to be a focus of many of the organizations in the Roundtable group.

After the meeting, my supervisor and I went to an open house for a new non-profit organization that provides Court Appointed Special Advocates who represent children's interests in family law disputes. It was mostly a chance to socialize and eat cake on "company time". My supervisor was joking that she took me along in order to misguide me into thinking that it would always be like this, then she'd sic me with all the boring and hard work, lol.

After that, I had to go back to campus for a seminar class related to the internship. This is one of the times I wish I could afford to have a car. Fortunately, the seminar class is only every other week so I only have to do this three more times.

I finally got home at 7 p.m. and of course had tons of email to go through. I voted in the MoveOn.org online presidential primary (Kucinich is the one wink ) then surfed a few blogs.

I don't intend this blog to turn into a boring "what I did today" journal but it's true that I just don't have the time to look for interesting topics to post about like I did before. Thanks in advance to all my readers for their patience, and if it becomes too dull, you can always check out one of the many, many blogs listed on my blogroll.

Here are some reviews of Ibn Warraq's work.

Prof. Fred Donner, University of Chicago

Prof. Yasin Dutton, University of Edinburgh

Jeremiah D. McAuliffe, Ph.D.

I hope this helps, inshallah.
