Muslim voices 5/24 to 5/31

Date: May 31, 2003 | 29 Rabi al-Awwal 1424 Hijriah
Subjects: muslim, blogs
Here are the blogs with working permalinks. You'll go directly to the designated entry.

Sadia Salam continues her art history lessons with an explanation of some movements within Expressionism. She's posted up some examples of this type of art so you can see what she's talking about

Karen Hanson has an excellent post about her experiences of discrimination and how it has given her a deeper understanding of discrimination faced by racial minorities. I could have written many of those words myself. It has been very eye-opening for me.

Aizuddin Danian reflects on the growing evidence that Bush and Blair lied about WMDs in order to wage war on Iraq.

Fazal Majid posts about the unexpected costs of poor credit card security.

Faren looks back at a trip to Spain he took in 2000.

The To Submit community features a post for Muslims about not judging others.

Zack Ajmal posts about tolerance, perfection, and progress in Islam.

Umar has a long post with his thoughts about events in Iraq and Palestine.

Here are the Blogger blogs. Scroll down to the designated entry.

Sara has a rant about Muslims for whom, as she puts it, "islam for some of the muslims specially maulvis begins from women and ends at women today no Man believes in lowering his gaze but yes the women must guard their modesty" (May 26). You tell 'em, sister!

-=§hÊ=- posts about a magazine for Muslim teens (May 30).

Abez shares why she wears hijab (May 30). It's a great post! Mashallah.

Sara Mahmud contines her "inspiration" series (May 26).

Bin Gregory talks about Malaysian food and Indian food (May 31).

Yasmine, who is left-handed, suspects that there is a conspiracy of right-handed people to make life difficult for lefties (May 28). LOL!

noBraiNnEr shares her thoughts on the real meaning of liberation (May 31).

Daniyah posts up a short story she found called "The Stranger" that's worth reading if you haven't read it before (May 26).

Nazim Syed posts a touching story about the Special Olympics (May 28). Mashallah.

Kasheur shares an article about the linguistic influence of Arabic on English (May 27).

Shi'a Pundit has a post called "Islam is Freedom" (May 26). Check it out, inshallah.

Silent takes time on his 21st birthday to reflect (May 27).

Bakwaas shares her thoughts about Israel and Palestine (May 31).

Ubaid shares more on this topic (May 29).

Sufistic posts about priorities in actions and intentions (May 30).

Thebit responds to a disaffected Muslim (May 28) and looks at some Muslim apologetics he thinks are wrong-headed (May 27).

Elham has a post about time and memory (May 27).

As a bonus, here are some Muslim views on Sultana Freeman. Start with two threads at the To Submit community (1, 2) and one at the Islamic Feminista. These pretty well reflect the range of opinions I've seen at Muslim discussion boards. Some bloggers have taken the time to post their own thoughts, including Karen Hanson, Mistaken Identity (May 30 entry), Suzzy (May 28 entry), Umair Salam, Jabir (May 29 entry), and Aziz Poonawalla (May 27 entry). These bloggers are generally supportive of Freeman.

Since I started doing the Muslim Voices series, I've been coming to your blog once a week. I wish I could visit all the blogs more frequently but I only have time on the weekends because school keeps me so busy.
