adventures of the niqabi intern

Today was my first day in my community service internship. I had thought that I would be doing court observation, but instead they assigned me and the other interns to a new project that's come up. Such is the life of an intern.

As part of the Racial Disparity Project (which the court observation is also part of), the public defender's office had requested incident reports from the police to analyze and sent the reports out to a firm that created a database from them. When the reports were returned to the defender's office, they were completely out of order. So the interns get to sort the documents and file them in the correct order. There are thousands of reports that have to be sorted and filed. Oh, joy.

But hey, if I had college student interns, I'd give them that job too. It's an opportunity for me to learn and also to gain experience and make contacts.
