Iranians have several Calligraphic Styles such as Nastaliq, Taliq, Naskh, Thulth, Reqa, Towqi, Shekasteh, Kufic and decorative scripts. Although most of them are Arabic, Iranians have developed them. Particularly they invented Nastaliq.
Here you can find some thing about Iranian calligraphy and their alphabet.

Here is my favourite calligrapher who writes Nastaliq.

You can find two masterpieces of him in the archive of my weblog as well.as a little calligrapher I follow his style.
Also see the work of this young calligrapher, Hamid Ajami who has invented the Mo`alla script when he started to write the word Master "Ali". I think you will find interesting.

sadia has done some calligraphy including Eid Cards (as a matter of fact, she just did Surah Asr recently)...i'm hoping she'll do some more, 'cause she's so good at, mashaAllah!

I've seen Sadia's Eid cards - they are truly beautiful. I used to do calligraphy when I was younger, still dabble in it a bit as a hobby - this was actually my real introduction to Islam - have always been completely blown away by all the different styles, especially in works where there is this direct play of the typography with the content...Sooooo RAD!!
