Thanks for the links about Amina Lawal. I was very relieved, since I've met quite a few scholars who held that the ruling was right, however disturbing it was. They often cited a hadith involving a woman repeatedly coming to the Prophet (PBUH) for a punishment.
The article, however, clears all this up. Thank you!
