Congratulations to sister Elham! This first-time commentor got the 1000th comment on my blog. Sister Elham has a great blog. She has strong opinions about a lot of subjects and she's not afraid to share them. I just discovered her blog a few days ago and immediately added her to my blogroll. Her blog is called "Work Is Freedom. Yeah Right" (I like this title) and it's listed under "Politically-Themed Blogs". I notice that her current mood is listed as "argumentative" and I suspect that she usually has it that way wink

I'd also like to thank everybody else who has commented on this blog. At least half the fun of blogging is the comments section. It creates a sense of community and allows us to have a discussion from which we all can learn, instead of each of us isolated talking aloud to ourselves.

LOL. I'm the lucky one people :-)

Thanks for the links about Amina Lawal. I was very relieved, since I've met quite a few scholars who held that the ruling was right, however disturbing it was. They often cited a hadith involving a woman repeatedly coming to the Prophet (PBUH) for a punishment.

The article, however, clears all this up. Thank you!

LOL! I was laughing when I saw that a brand-new person had come in and gotten the 1000th comment. Something like this happened to me at a discussion board once upon a time; a couple of us were competing to see who would get a certain post in a thread and I was sure I had it but it turned out that some girl had wandered into the thread and got the coveted post.
