every day in every way, this blog is getting better and better (or something like that)

Date: March 13, 2003 | 8 Muharram 1424 Hijriah
Subjects: website, features
I made some changes to the layout of veiled4allah. Most obviously, I now have a three-column layout. My blogroll was threatening to take over the entire page, so I moved it to its own column.

I've also created a new section called "Resources on Islam", modified from the old "Interlude" section. It includes links to my Muslims Condemn Terrorism page as well as to my blog posts about some hot issues ("what does Islam really say about..."). I also added a couple of links to basic resources on Islam from my main website; from there you can find the rest.

The image of the candle is part of the Bloggers' Vigil for Peace campaign, timed to go with the real-life March 16 Global Candlelight Vigil for Peace. If you're interested in taking part, click on the candle and you'll be taken to a page where you can grab the candle image for your own blog. If you send organizer Joel an email, he'll add a link to your blog on that page.

I like the three column layout. Design wise, the (poltical/newsy) blog I like the best is "shock and Awe" by Kynn. Bold primary colours, and a clear indication of what types of entries will be found on each column.

Is that blog a regular MT blog?

Yes, I believe that it is. He seems to be doing something similar to what I've done on the Al-Muhajabah's Islamic Blogs main page, where I have three columns. I explained it a little on my Movable Type tips blog. Basically, MT allows you to organize your posts in categories and then you can display those categories pretty much any way that you want. The entire Al-Muhajabah's Islamic Blogs setup is one single blog, with three categories, but I keep the posts from veiled4allah, A Quranic Journal, and The Clipboard almost totally separate.

Shock and Awe has a very striking layout and I really like it as another example of what can be done with blogs.

My ears are burning -- two months late.

Yes, Shock and Awe is a movable type blog with two categories. If anyone's interested, I can post the template.
