could it be that simple?

Date: January 24, 2003 | 21 Dhu-l-Qidah 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: thoughts
Manish of Damn Foreigner writes:

Much has been made about the fact that 15 of the terrorists came from Saudi Arabia. People have drawn the conclusion that since 15 of the terrorists came from Saudi Arabia, that Saudi's are either for terrorism or that their government supports terrorism. Well, let me see...5 American citizens in Portland, 6 in Buffalo, John Walker Lindh, Jose Padilla, Yaser Hamdi, Timothy McVeigh, Theodore Kaczynski..that makes 16 American terrorists. Can I conclude that America is a terrorist supporting nation? Why were there so many Saudi's involved in 9/11? Well, put yourselves in Osama's shoes for a moment and think to yourself if you were planning the 9/11 attacks. You would need people who could easily get visa's to get into the United States, could speak English well enough to get by in America and had some kind of advanced education that would enable them to learn how to fly. In the Middle East, this is generally going to mean middle-class Saudi's.

Disingenious and laughable at best.

There's also Nicholas Kristof's theory that OBL selected Saudis in order to create discord between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia.

Personally, I think there are a lot of factors and the one proposed by Damn Foreigner could well be one of them. I don't know if he's being disingenuous, but he is perhaps naive.
