why do they sell you things that don't work?

Date: November 10, 2002 | 5 Ramadan 1423 Hijriah
Subjects: family, computer
My parents bought a new computer so I went over to their house today to help my mom set it up. We moved the old computer into another room then set up the new computer, an Apple eMac. At first everything went OK. But then when we tried to print, either the application would close unexpectedly or it would stay open but the print queue would be stopped and we couldn't get it to start printing the job. So my mom got on the phone to tech support. They had her deleting and installing various drivers and files for about an hour then suggested that she upgrade the operating system. This required downloading a 17 MB file over a 56K modem. deathstare And then after we had finally done that and installed the upgrade, the problem was still there! mad

So that took seven hours and my parents still can't print from their brand-new, just out of the box Mac. Tomorrow, my mom is going to call HP about the printer to see if it really is compatible after all (it was sold with the computer as part of a package deal, so you would think it was compatible with OS X).

What a totally frustrating day! If anybody tells you Macs are trouble-free, don't believe them tongue
