Ma3asalaama,
Ameenah
Umair, I currently learn by listening to the qari online (there are several sites that allow you to listen to an ayah at a time and repeat as many times as necessary) and attempting to copy his pronunciation as best I can. I then work on it throughout the day until I can recite it from memory. It would be better to have a teacher I can work one-on-one with, but unfortunately that is not practical for me at the current time.
As I learn, I recite the new surahs in my nafl salats and when I feel confident that I know them well and can recite them without error, I recite them in my fard salats. If it were not for reciting in the salat, I would hardly remember any of it, I'm afraid.
So far I have been memorizing 2-3 ayat a day. It's basically the same pace that I'm posting to A Quranic Journal (I'm using the the memorization schedule for my posting schedule). Inshallah, I'm going to try to move up to 5 ayat a day with juz tabaraka, because I'm more used to memorizing now and I think I can manage it.
The memorization schedules are on my website, if anybody wants to use them:
Juz Amma
Juz Tabaraka
W'as-salaam alaykum
